A quick trip to RMNP resulted in this bull elk image just before sunrise today. Interestingly, it was dead calm and 30 degrees in Estes; but 40 degrees with a howling wind in Horseshoe Meadow. This bull had a huge harem of ~ 50 cows near the road, but was tough to isolate for photos before a hasty retreat to the forest.
Dan Walters ~ How much longer will the rut last? Two weeks? Thanks.

The light is nice and soft on this fella. You've got nice positioning in the frame with this shot.

Strike a pose...vogue...vogue...vogue...
That's an awesome shot! This has change-your-underwear written all over it.

Nice shot! Really like the light and the gold color. Not sure how long it will go on. Guessing another week or two. This weekend is supposed to be pretty stormy.

That's a striking pose - he looks mighty serious. Of course, with 50 cows nearby, I imagine he was feeling a little territorial. Nice shooting, Dave.

Great job in isolating him and clicking the shutter at just the right time. I wonder what's on his mind!
