I'm going to try to get a day trip in this Sunday. Is there any color at Tremont or other areas of the park yet worth the 3 hour drive?

Alice,

I haven't checked, but will after work sometime this week if I can, but I wouldn't expect peak color in the river bottoms and Cove before the week of the 25th. You might find some isolated color on October 12th, but I'd be thinking 4500 feet and up. Good luck Alice, and let us know what you see!

Cheers,

Steve

Alice,

Per your request ma'am! I did indeed go up today after work, and although it's a very pleasant time to be in the woods, I wouldn't drive 3 hours for it - yet. There's some isolated trees with color, and if you can pull a pic out of a single tree or get some water with a colorful branch, you could do O.K., but like I said, not a 3-hour drive just yet. I have some pix from the digital point-and-shoot if you want to see for yourself.

Tremont also got wind out of this system, branches and a tree or two down.

Cheers,

Steve
