Any Serious Nature Photography Locations Near Anaheim?

I have a continuing education meeting in Anaheim CA in late October. My wife is going with me as after the conference we will go to Yosemite. However, Gail would like to do some nature photography while I am in class. So, are there any serious nature photography location in or near Anaheim, CA that are not Mickey Mouse related? Until we leave for Yosemite we will not have a car, so it needs to be relatively close.
