Hi Kim, he looks like he's spotted a fish, a lower POV might have worked better on this one though I appreciate this might not have been possible, still far better than any Kingfisher shot I have.

Thanks Andy, I agree on POV - unfortunately not possible from where I was - Hide only access!!
Kim
I also agree on the point of view, but nevertheless a nice picture .

Hi Kim
Good Kingfisher shot, but in my humble opinion there are very few birds that look "good" head on. Except he owls etc. I think Kingfishers are one good example.
Nice pic though9but better sideways !! )

Interesting view! It's nice to see the markings on the head, but I think I agree with John here. I think a head on shot would look better if the whole bird was head on and quite tight in the frame, it would make a nice abstract.
Looks like you've got a good location here as you can get nice and close!

I agree with John about the head on angle, but still a nice image.

A different view again and nice to see. Been looking at a computer screen all day so my eyes might be off but the sky looks a bit lilac?

Thanks for the comments - yes I agree - I certainly prefer side views of kingfisher - but this one quite amused me for a change, the tight crop is worth an experiment - will give it a try!! The lilac background is not sky - it was the lily pads behind - on the water - as I was in a hide that was above the bird.
