Hummingbird in flight
The last few days of the trip involved a two hour drive up into the Cloud forest which also was 'awesome'!

This meant a chance to see Hummingbirds and they didn't let me down. I have seen them before, but not to photograph, so the results were interesting, just wished I had not left my flash on board ship :-(

All full frame, MKIII 300 f/2.8 hand held about a 50% hit rate which I think isn't bad for something that is quite small and flies at warp speed.

BTW If anyone knows of a good link to ID these birds apprecaite a PM

That's a great image. Just enough wing blur to convey movement too

Hi Stephen,
Amazingly good shot. Just as John said just enough wingblur but sharp where it has to be sharp.

Love this Steve, the colours are fab against the BG and the wing blur as already covered
Certainly can't have been an easy task!

Now theres a beauty to behold and not an easy shot to obtain I would think.
Good looking BG as well to set it all off. :toast:

Amazing stuff! Nice to see a hummingbird shot not taken with flash, more natural, less stressful, imo!

Lovely background too!

Stephen

First class shot, great colour and without flash it can be done. Humming birds are a great interest of mine. One hell of a challenege to photograph.
