Had a great time in Ridgway area last weekend. It was great to see so many others out there. Enjoyed meeting Phil, Monica and their dogs!

I haven't processed too many shots, but I liked this one from Sunday morning:

Dallas Divide Image

Let me know what you think.

BTW - does anyone know the name of this peak? I know it isn't Sneffels - is this Wilson?

Thanks!

Jamie, the main peak seen from Dallas Divide is Sneffels. I can't see enough of the range to see what the other peaks are and I don't know where you were pointed. But I suspect this is Sneffels. The other possibilities are Wolcott and Mears, but I'm pretty sure this is Sneffels.

Regardless, this is a great image. You caught some great weather with this shot and the aspens and oaks are almost perfect.

That's an awesome shot Jamie! I love the clouds hugging the mountains. Might consider lightening the foreground just a tad. It looks a little dark to me.

We had to leave first thing Sunday morning so we missed the best shooting conditions of the weeknd. :frown:

Nice meeting you as well!

Thanks, Mel - I was pointed a bit toward the West when standing at the pass looking South
(along with over 20 other photographers that morning!)

Thanks, Phil - I was struggling with the foreground/background lighting...it was certainly more vibrant in person. I'll play around with it. I have some other shots within minutes of this one...with less and less of the peak showing thorugh the cloud that are pretty cool.

Jamie,
I was there last weekend, and I know exactly which peak you are shooting (38°01'31.52''N, 107°53'27.53''W). This is the 2nd peak left of Hayden Peak, unfortunately I don't see a name for this one on Google earth. Btw, that's a beautiful shot!

Very nice. Love the reds.
I agree, this peak is definitely not Sneffels.

That is a gorgeous shot! Love the clouds around the mountains. The colors and composition are superb. I really need to get out to either Colorado or the La Sals in Utah during fall. The colors must be absolutely amazing to see in person.

This is not Sneffels, it's a unnamed peak. Beautiful shot, despite the ghastly copyright symbol. I know you want to protect your images, but doing so in such a way that it intrudes so grotesquely into the scene kinda defeats the purpose.

Sorry about that, Todd! It's a Zenfolio thing - not something I added. I turned it on when I set up the site but am not liking it anymore - just forgot to turn it off.

Ghastly watermark removed!

Ahhhh, MUCH better! That is a killer shot. Looks like one grand morning on the Divide.

(queue music...) I can see clearly now...

That's a great shot, Jamie. I was there the following morning and there were just too many clouds. Things didn't start to break up until an hour after sunrise making for some tough lighting issues. I love the soft light you've got here.

What a beautiful shot. I wish I could have gotten down there for that storm. I have a feeling that there are a lot of images from that weekend that are being readied for the Fall contest...

SWEET moment you've captured here Jamie. Doesn't get much better.

Beautiful!!!

Jamie, this will be a gorgeous image once you work on the foreground a bit more; it was much more vibrant that morning than depicted in your current version. I had to leave for home that morning too and went through the area about 9-9:30am, but the clouds were blocking the mountains at that point and with the family waiting I couldn't hang around to see what developed. :frown:
