Hello Kim, quite a nice pose on the bird but you were very unfortunate with the sky. To really get a good image at Gigrin the weather needs to be quite bright / blue sky or even a dark brooding sky. I know how frustrating it can be to travel to these places and find the light is wrong. You have made a decent job under the circumstances. I am led to understand that the new higher photographers hide is well sited to obtain some greenery in the background but I haven't had the opportunity to try yet.

Nothing to stop you adding to that sky Kim and perhaps just a touch more light under the wings would make this a usable image.

Hi Kim,
Love the pose and a sharp and well exposed image despite the less than ideal conditions.
I'm not overly keen on the white sky if I'm honest, but I know only too well how un-cooperitive the Welsh weather can be at times.

Hi and thanks for the comments. It was a really grey miserably old day at Gigrin. I agree I do not like the white sky - but sadly my editing skills are not up to altering it. Thank you John for the e mail and the blue sky!!!!! You could have told me how you did it
Have tried the new hide Robert, and it is brilliant - but it won't help when the weather is awful!!

Agree with the above but like the kite itself. If you find out how to get the sky blue I'd love to know too

I had quite a good session at Gigrin this year while on holiday in the area and got this, taken with an EOS 5D, 70-200 f/2.8 with 2x extender attached. We were so lucky with the weather that week - it rained a lot in the weeks before we went. Much of the countryside was ankle deep mud.
