In this part of the world outdoor floral shots are non-existent. What would be the most inexpensive way to achieve well-lit indoor images? Using reflected window light is not usually an option.

Thanks for your input.

You can do dramatic things with your basic strobe, an off-camera cable and a sheet of white posterboard for a reflector. Nathan Buck over in the floral gallery has explored this option a lot, meanwhile posting the dramatic results. He's very good about describing his gear and techniques, so searching out his posts wlil provide a wealth of practical details.

Hi May, I have a couple of alien bees with softboxes, etc. I highly recommend them. :toast: I also use 550 speedlight and mt-24ex macro flash as well as numerous reflectors and foamcore board.

Go to The Strobist web page and read everything there. The whole site is dedicated to using cheap (relatively) off camera flash and DIY type stuff to acheive terrific results.

After you go to the Strobist, see if Ebay has something suitable that you don't have to build. "light tent" with "set" or "kit" should turn up a lot. I bought one of these sets, and I've been very happy with it. The "tent"s come in quite a range of sizes.
