The Gathering
I finally got around to processing the only landscape image I’ve taken since my mom’s passing at the end of September. I decided to take a drive down to the beach about a week ago to clear my mind, and this image was the result. I really wanted to make that CANP Sierra gathering… and I’m glad to hear it was a good turn out. I can’t wait for the next one.

As always, any comments, suggestions or critiques are always welcomed.

Cheers!

~Eric

Eric, so sorry to hear about your Mom passing away. I still recall having seen my Mom the night before she passed away over 15 years ago now.
This is a wonderful sea/beachscape. This small curved jetty does a perfect job of leading the eyes out toward the seastack further out. Heck, those green seaweed covered rocks ain't too bad either. Really nice work.

That is unfortunate about your mom Eric. Even more props to you for even having the will to be out there making these images after such a short amount of time.

You did a nice job of those submerged rocks and the tide pool forming the s curve.

Beautiful, beautiful image! I love the emotion in it. The light on the right side gently kissing the rocks. The flow of the water in and out. The moss on the rocks. The sky forboding yet with that glimmer of light breaking through it. Very powerful indeed.

When my father passed away and we scattered his ashes at sea it was something that marked me forever, just as his life and love for the sea did. And when I look out there I sense him with me even now.

Thanks for sharing your artistry with us during this time. May your mom's memories help carry you through these difficult times and continue to inspire you as she has here.

Eric,

Very sorry to hear about your Mom. Been there, done that just a few years ago. I'm sure this image will always be very special.

The image is self is beautiful; I especially like the curve between the water and the rocky outcropping. Almost looks like half a tear drop... The light is wonderful on the rocks. Compositionally, I might be tempted to crop some from the left to bring this in to a better balance, but that's just me.

Eric,

I am sorry about your mom's passing. Benn there as well and it was hard for me, so much so that I could hardly operate a camera correctly. But it was Mother Earth that finally gave the the solace I needed to keep going.

This image really has a wonderful quality to it. Beautiful light and a moody sky, I am almost sure it translates what must have been going on inside of you at the time. The composition is great as well and really leads the eye well.

Well done Eric. I like everything about it, the curve to the little peninsula, the green on the rocks, the clouds, the water, excellent :toast:

Eric, Sorry to hear about your mom's passing.

Good use of shutter speed here. Love the muted sky tones. I can feel your emotions in this image. Hope to make it down to your side town eventually.
