Autofocus with Sigma 500mm f/4.5 DG & Converters

Hi,
I`ve just bought a Sigma 500mm f/4.5 DG lens from a forum member. Lens is great, but will not autofocus with my 40D and Kenko Pro 1.4x converter (with taped pins). My older non-DG Sigma autofocused very well with the 500 and TC.
Question is: Has anyone successfully achieved autofocus with this combination (Sigma 500 DG, Canon 40D, 1.4x converter)? And which converter did you use?
Thanks,

Hi Jeremy, I also use the Sigma 500mm, unfortunatly you will have to use manual focus with the TCs, I have tried taping, rang Sigma....etc.

Hi Jeremy,

You gave me advice on this a few months ago and I got it to work I am using a Canon 1.4x with taped pins.
