Thanks...
Thanks to all you great folks over here at RMNP for the fall color reports each year. I have enjoyed seeing your posts as the color has unfolded this year, as in years past. I was fortunate enough to visit the West Elks and San Juans for the first time two weeks ago to witness the absolutly SPECTACULAR color. Fall in the Rockies should be considered one of the top three wonders in the world. Sure was a lot better than sitting at home watching the stock market crash!...

Here is a shot from the west side of Owl Creek pass, but I'm not sure if it's Courthouse or Stealey Mt. - or neither. I was undecided as to shoot here or the "New Maroon Bells" as described by Morris McClung in an earlier post - both are great locations.

Thanks again!

That is some great glow on the rocks, and good comp how everything sweeps up to them. We'll have to keep track of the posts to see if there are as many shots from this area as from the bells. Maybe that rumor was right. Glad you had a productive trip. My daughter goes to college in Arkansas, and she says I might want to bring my camera down there for fall, too. I will at least keep an eye on the central states forum to see how it develops.

Wow, great image Bill. Love the interplay with the colors and the sweeping lines.. Excellent.

Great capture Bill! There is something so much fun about that spot. The history there is in and of itself, fun to track, following the course of one of the best shootouts in Western Cinema history. You can almost sense John Wayne right there shooting it out with the bad guys! True Grit is alive in the San Juans :toast:

I admit, I was at Chimney Peak myself on Monday evening and had the place all to myself, a far cry from the crowds in Aspen, Estes, and Jackson on this tour ;)

Wow, beautiful shot, Bryan! Love the angle you were shooting from, and the snow adds so much to the scene. And it looks like you got the color in the clouds I was hoping for, but never quite got. Fantastic image!!

Thanks Bill. to be honest, I was expecting even more photogs out there that evening considering how great the clouds were lining up. I truly do love that spot and by the end of the trip, found myself shooting over 200 shots just from that scene in different angles heh.

Did you have a crowd out there the night you shot? I think you got a great capture there yourself, and a real keeper with some great clouds!

By the way, here's a great youtube link to "True Grit" then and now. Lots of familiar backgrounds in it.
