To many branches ??
Canon XTI, 17-40L @ 40mm, f9 @ 1/25 ISO 100, CPL WB: Cloudy, Hand Held. I don't know what to think about this shot, I myself like it but then on the other hand the branches bother me sometimes. I need some input on this, thanks :wavey:

Danny, if you like it that truthfully is all that really matters. I have a similar shot from years back and I tend to like it too. I can recall a shot I posted once in ESS that was a bit cluttered one time. It was getting mixed reviews until a well know photog happened upon it and made the comment, "folks, that's what it really looks like out there in nature". I would say that we can probably always find issues with many images we personally post, or see of others work, that are not perfect in everyway. But after all, it is what mother nature has out there for us to capture on our chosen media and take home with us. I also like this scene very much, Danny.

Danny,

I love the colors. Where did you take this? Was it near Bishop or???

I think the reason the branches look a bit much in parts is that the wind took off so many of leaves in this particular clearing. I can see them right below the tree. Either way it is a nice display of Fall colors.

Thanks for posting.

Looks pretty nice to me! The partially bare branches w/ the leaves at the base really tell a story about the change taking place. Nice find and presentation! But then I kinda like those kinds of images, kinda like this

This was taken near Bishop on the way to South Lake

Danny,

Too many branches?? For me.... hardly. This a great aspen display and represents what the Eastern Sierra has to offer very well. I might be tempted to crop in from the left, not because there's too much, but simply for tighter crop to showcase the main grouping.
Nice color and I like the diffused lighting.

Danny,

I can see what you are talking about. But it is a fine image. Had you taken a tighter comp I think there would have been fewer branches but they would have been more prominent and I think they would have made the image really special.

Thanks everyone for the input, what it boils down to is what Paul said, its whatever nature throws at you, not everything in nature is perfect. thanks again. :wavey:

Danny,

I like the branches! They give a very nice sense of movement and add to the dynamic of the image. I do think the image could use a tad more brightness to bring up the high values; particularly in the yellows and the trunks of the aspens. You had some nice light to work with and you obviously took advatage of it to create a very nice image!

Good Job!

A pretty nice shot Danny. Too many branches didn't really cross my mind when i looked at this.

You should take a look at Dan Baumbach's work. He makes it work somehow no matter the amount of branches.

I like the row of green trees in the background adding contrast your golden leaves. Not too many branches

Not too many branches for me. I like the mixture of vertical and horizontal lines you captured here. I might consider a very small (1/8th of an inch or so) crop from both the right and left sides. To my my eye that minimizes that darker area in the LRC and the tree trunks near the edge of the left side. I think that would balance out this already well captured image even more. Nice work!
