Grey seal with pup + repost.
Taken on Sunday at Marloes. Angle of view not ideal but a hundred foot cliff is a good barrier.
EOS 30D
Sigma 500mm plus 1.4 extender
exp 1/250 @ f6.7 iso 320

I like this a lot. - most unusual viewpoint but it works. I would lose the seaweed on the left to simplify the textures. Out of interest, to simplify it further, I wonder if you got one of the adult alone - I think that would be stunning if placed diagonally in the centre.

I like this.
The camoflage of the seals markings is quite good . Never noticed that before.
Good stuff

I like this very much. Natural setting and the detail on the seals is clear. :toast:

|I like this, as said it's a pity about the weed, but the image has strong potential

Thanks for the comments. I am posting a copy with the seaweed removed for comparison.

I really like this the second post without the weed is better, would just remove the little white blobs on a couple of the rocks.

Nice one :toast:

Oh yes, the repost is just stunning - even with the youngster!

Nice either way Robert :wavey:

Like others I prefer the 2nd version - but redo the cloning as you have a few 'see-thru' rocks

The repost is better, I do like this one; shows how the natural world blend together so well - animal & environment !

Not bad considering a hundred foot cliff between you & subject !

Sorry but the first was fine in my opinion. The sea weed gave just a gentle hint of location and I cant see any reason for rmoving it.
Cheers

Fraid I'm with John here, IMO the first was fine and is really a excellent and different take on a oft photographed subject that works really well,

I have to admit, I was not entirely happy with my cloning out of the weed and will probably stick with the original. It's even more difficult when the original is seen first as then the viewer is actually looking for the cloning. Thanks for the comments.

Very nice, and different from the norm! Nice tones and the pose is nice too. I prefer the first post really too, seaweed and rocks are really hard to clone out! I don't think the seaweed detracts from the textures, it adds.

Lovely shot!! :toast:

I'd agree with the weed keepers - first post is fine for me. Very nice photo! I've got some from the same angle but the cliff was very much higher, so the seals (all adults) are much smaller.

Yep, first is fine and the point of view very different. The other issue with the cloning is that you used a fairly distinctive rock with the wet/dry pattern and white blob which makes it much easier to see it. Maybe if you wanted to redo it use a number of different rocks from around the scene to cover the weed?
