Hinds in the dew
Another Red Deer image I am afraid but this time the sometimes forgotten hinds. I really like the glistening highlights but I am not a hundred percent sure that the image as a whole works, and so would really appreciate any opinions and comments.

It works absolutely fine, in my humble opinion.
Wonderful use of the subject being attracted by something apart from the photographer for a change !
I love this ,having been involved with deer for most of my working life and it brings back many happy memories of long stalks. .
Great picture
Cheers

I think compositionally it works well William - though if the mature hind was on the right and the yearling in the centre it would be perfect

The only real nit I have is that you've not got room for the 'virtual' feet - you are just that bit too close - a permanent problem for big prime users.

Nice image though - nice light, nice atmosphere and perfect exposure :toast:

Do agree about the positioning, but not a lot you could have done... a very nice image full of atmosphere and you are right the hinds often get ignored.

Also agree about the proximity. I think a shot like this works much better with lots more environment. However given the restrictions of a big lens you can't do a right lot about that! It's still a fabulous shot and the dew and cobwebs on the grass are great.

Despite the tightness of the framing it has lots going on and makes for a wonderful environmental shot giving lots of atmosphere of a cold, damp autumnal morning. The light in all the dew and webs as well as the chilled colouring just makes it. Well done for taking the time..

Works well for me apart from the positioning in the frame as has already been mentioned. Very nice atmosphere and detail. Love the light and dew on the grass.

Fran

Really nice pose of the hinds and yes, the highlights look good to me too. Just wonder if the deer are a little dark and whether bringing them up a bit may be worth a go?

Maybe a tad tight top and bottom but the rest of the image is wonderful and full of atmosphere!
