I made this image in Lee Vining canyon the morning of the gathering at the Whoa Nellie deli. Once again, great to meet everybody. It was a real pleasure.
I would appreciate any feedback on this one. I am most interested in overall impact, but suggestions or comments on processing, comp, etc are most welcome.
Chamonix 4x5
Fujinon 240mm
Velvia 50
81B (but should have used an 85C, as I had to remove plenty of blue in PS)

I like the way it stands out of the background !!

Definitely feels like being there. There is a little bit of a magenta cast but solid overall.
This is really nice. It was such a calm morning. I keep wanting to see the trunk off center to the left, but not sure how a crop might work. I get my film back tomorrow, I cna't wait!

The greens look a little over saturated to me. I wonder if toning them down might make the orange pop more.
WOW, got to love that V-50, Harley. I wish I could help with your request for suggestions, but I think it is so close I would have to work it in PS before I could make any. I think I see the most slight bit of magenta Richard mentioned in the white bark, but I'm not too sure about the cast Jeffrey has commented about. The greens do seem a bit dark, but again, unless I'm looking at the original and twisting the knobs in PS it is hard. This one is SO very close IMHO. Comp & detail are excellent!!

Beautiful image. Since I am missing CO this Fall it is nice to see some CA aspens.
Does anyone know the furthest Western Aspen grove in CA? I am not aware of any on the Western slope of the Sierras. It could just be that the climate is not conducive to their growth. In CO ppl grew them in thier backyards.
Looks good to me Harley. Not sure if there is a color cast or not on this monitor, it's minor if there is. This is a good find!

I like the way the green foliage largely frames the image, while most of the color and exposed stone takes center stage along with that well aspen place trunk. Good stuff!

Harley,
The colors are bold and striking and look pretty accurate to me; I can't see a color cast. I think the composition is bold just like the colors and contrast, and to be honest didn't grab me at first glance. But in further viewings, I think the strength here is the bold, whiteness of the single trunk against the rest of the scene; it stands out very well and makes for a pretty unique image. I think it works - if anything for the non-conforming viewpoint.

Yes, still a minor color cast.
