Not a stag in sight....
Just a Lanceolated Monklet! Taken on the Satipo Road in Peru a few years ago. I know it's a bit 'branchy' but you take what you're given over there and just seeing one of these guys is a major achievement!

The techs are lost in the mist of 'early digital' learning but it was taken with a 10D and a 300-mm lens with 1.4x converter.

I am never sure about branches at the back of pictures. The current fashion seems to be to blur them out on the basis that they are distracting, but in that case why do some wildlife artists deliberately paint them in? Personally I like the branches here, they give a little idea of the habitat without distracting from the subject.

Hi Dave, looks a tad warm to me and perhaps a little more USM? Would be tempted to lose a bit off the top too which might help :wavey:

Branches are no problem with me either, although I do agree re: sharpening a tad.

Best wishes,

Birds in trees are always a problem. Personally, I would prefer it without the branches growing out of its head. I don't mind seeing other branches I just think in the best shots they don't intrude into the bird's space. It's a nice shot all the same. If you like playing in PS, you could sharpen, de-noise and lose the branches, but otherwise it as an excellent reminder of a great trip. Interesting post.
