Hi Everyone,
I'm just back from a week in southern Ontario, where they are having a spectacular fall. While I was away, a couple of you emailed requesting info on color in the CVNP.
The color is coming along well. We're having a beautiful fall here. This image is from Hale Farm this morning.
I went out to Blue Hen Falls late yesterday. The color should be good there by the weekend (although the beeches are still green). We're expecting a good rain tonight, so the falls in the area should have lots of water (Blue Hen, Brandywine and Bridal Veil).
I think this weekend will be a good bet (maybe peak). We're expecting partly cloudy skies and cool.
Hope to see some of you out there.
Happy shooting!

Thanks Chuck.... I'll be in on Monday afternoon and will give you a call. Things here are not bad either... just too busy.

Look forward to seeing you, Jack. Last night's rain wasn't as much as forecast. Doubt it will improve the flow at our local falls. By way of update, here's Brandywine from yesterday afternoon. Lots of color, but not a lot of water.

Thinking of visiting the CVNP for the first time.starting on Monday the 20th. Will the color still be good early next week? Where should I concentrate my efforts so I don`t waste my time? Any other areas close by would be good too.

Hi Mike,
The color here should still be good through next week. A lot of the maples are peaking right now, but some haven't even started to turn. There's a list of highlights and a map on the Ohio Locations page. Send me an email if you have specific questions.
Happy shooting!

Nice colors, Chuck!
Northern Kentucky must have gotten the rain meant for you...it's rained here all day today.

I went back out to Brandywine late yesterday. A lot more water is coming over the falls. Hopefully it will continue through the weekend. Blue Hen Falls also had a bit more water. The challenge to shooting there are the large cut logs now located at the base of the falls. Earlier this year a couple of big trees came down upstream. The park service cut them up into smaller sections. Some of those sections found their way downstream and over the falls.

National WX service is beginning to add some precept to next weekends forecast as of tonight! OK with me!
