As I was returning from a week in Utah I drove home across the high plains of Texas. The clouds were so great and I stopped so much that what should have been a 5 hour drive turned into 9 hours.
I gotseveral nice images from that morning. Here is one from Landergin which is west of Amarillo. By the time got here it was overcast but the light was more of full daytime. So I took it a bit to the sepia side as opposed to a straight color image.
Does it work?

Out there are miles and miles of miles and miles! Nice shot.

I think it looks real good Darren, very well composed. The lines of the clouds are echoed in the bending lines of the grass. The only thing I notice is the vignetting of the silo and building. I'm thinking you shot this at 10mm. It does have a way of fitting into the flow, but might make the sky and land stand out even more if you corrected it if possible. Big space, nicely done.

I really like this scene Darren and the choice to go sepia tone fits well with the subject. Two things catch my eye, the perspective distortion and the post processing halos around the buildings. IMO, this shot is worthy of a bit more time to address the two items I mentioned.
Glad you had such a "long" drive home. Thanks for sharing and sorry you won't be making it up my way this month.

I would agree with both the halos and the distortion. The distortion does not bother me as much. When I want distortion free I use the 75mm on the 4x5. But the sweeping expanse of sky you can get at 10mm makes it acceptabe for me on the dslr. The halos are what bother me. I have tried several attempts at layering different elements of the image and still cannot avoid the halo effect. I may try Photomatix and see what it can do.
