Went to La Veta yesterday afternoon, but arrived too late to catch the rapidly melting snow. Ah well, it was still fabulous! The Wets looked incredible and was tempted to make a beeline there, but i had my heart set on Spanish Peaks. Here's Wahatoya. More at ESS in a bit...

And sunset was not half bad (note almost departed snow in fg)

Wow, that first one is an eyecatcher! Way to go! The second one could use some sunlight on the dike but you've got to take what Mother Nature throws at you, unless you have a really big flash.

That first one is fantastic. It has everything! High clouds, low clouds, good light, fresh snow, fall color and a reflection.

Great stuff, Stan! Glad to see your trip to the Breasts of the World produced some good images. I like the first and third ones best, but that's only because they're very excellent, whereas #2 is just excellent.
I didn't get out yesterday (too much to do), but tried for sunrise this morning. Not a freakin' cloud anywhere, and even the setting moon was too far north to cooperate with me.

The first one is a classic, and my favorite of the lot.

Love that first one as well. The snow covered peak and its cloud hat really put it over the top.
I'm with everyone else: they're all beautiful, but #1 is as good as it gets!

Stan, the first one is just amazing! What a view and perfect capture. Really stunning. Wow, wow. Love it!

Nice stuff, Stan, but as others have said, the first one is amazing. Devil's staircase looks like it would be great in the right light. You're gonna have to make another trip!
Excellent work on all of these, Stan. #1 has all of the ingredients and is my personal fave.

I too like #1. A wonderful image with a classic feel that others have alluded to. But I really like #3. A special image. I like the featured elements so much that I'll even suggest cropping a bit, to remove the distractions (albeit minor) of the open sky and the foreground snow. I tight crop will focus this image that much more. Great work, Stan.

As soon as I opened the message and saw the first image, I said "whoa!" - very cool! I like all three, but the first is a stunner. Nice job!

#1 is killer. #3 has an interesting Mt Fuji-esque feel - nice!

Thanks for all the kind remarks folks! I wish i could have been at two places at once, cause as i was driving toward the lake the light on the Staircase was crazy, but i knew if i stopped to scout a good vantage point id lose my chance at the lake. Definitely a good reason to go back next snowstorm!

These are all really nice! Looks like it was near the perfect day and season. Don't see many photos of this area and neat to see something different, as well. (I seem to be seeing some odd fringing around the upper leaves in #3, could just be me).

The first image is amazing, the 3rd one a close 2nd. The light and clarity is just beautiful Stan, a great time of year with the mixture of snow and fall colours!.

Excellent images! Have not shot that area but have driven many times and always looked like a good spot for images... good job!
