Folks:
I've been playing with the new CS4 Vista 64bit version and the increase in performance is significant. General image manipulation functions just smoke. I merged 7 images from my 1D3 in under a minute, the smooth zooming is very welcomed, along with the other new features. Worth the upgrade IMHO. One thing so far I don't like is that when I bring up curves using the new adjustment layers panel I can't see a way to show clipping. A minor point, but a function I use quite often. Accessing curves through the image drop-down panel will get that "show clipping" feature, but that defeats the purpose of the new panel.

Thanks for the info. I will probably upgrade after January 1.

Greg, what processor are you running? Is it a a dual-core or a quad core?

Paul:
I have a Q6700 quad core, GeForce 8800 GTX video card, and 8 Gigs of RAM. The advantage of CS4 is that it uses the video card's GPU for some processesing tasks and at 64bits sees all of my RAM. Between these two new features the application just flies. As I said, to me its more than worth the upgrade fee and NAPP membership meant a discount as well. Cheers.
