Trying to revive our lagging economy but i'm in a fix, need some ideas...
I really want the new 5D MII but the cost is a bit much considering I am about to sell off all my Nikon equipment and make the swap to Canon.
I am considering the 50d for my landscape stuff but wonder how it compares in image quality with the old 5D, any thoughts?
How does it perform at long exposures? Noise is an issue, how does the 50d do? Not so concerned about the 1.6x crop factor, just noise and image clarity. compared to 5d

You make no mention of what lenses you have, and that's about the whole thing. One thing I've avoided is swtiching back and forth between camera makers. Cameras come & go so fast now I don't see the point. I have never had a camera body make much difference in my own photos. Tripods, lenses, lighting system--yes.

I'm kinda with Kent on this. Instead of switching complete systems and havng to buy all new everything, have you considered the D300? You mentioned that noise os a consoderation. The D300 is much improved in the noise arena, and could ceratinly be cheaper than buying all new Canon body and lenses.
I have thought about the D300 but at $1700 - $1800 I could just sit and wait on the 5D MII for $800 more and get twice the camera. My concern with the Nikon is that I have to buy all new lenses for anything they make full frame, so either way I may be doing just that (Nikon or Canon). I have a few Nikon lenses I never use anymore so selling off the NIkon equipment and purchasing the new Canon stuff may just be a wash in costs for me. And, even if I didn't buy the 5D MII and purchased the D50 instead I get bigger MP and perhaps better image quality.
My primary concern is that I do a lot of family pics to support my love for nature photography and with my D2X a family pic shot at 200 ISO looks poor, how much better is the image quality from the D300 to the D2x?
