Macro Mantis
Hello all, it's been a while. Work, etc. I came home from work last night, hit the garage door opener and saw this guy ride up in my headlight beam, hit the button to lower the door some and take a look. He was about 9" long. Grabbed the camera and my new macro lens(still learning)and took a few shots. Tech wise, I know it's out of frame and I believe the rest are:f12,iso 200, 1/15 Nikon d200, 105f2 macro. Fancy studio lighting provided by Ford Explorer and pop-up flash. Thanks for looking, as always appreciate ALL feedback. Bruce

9" long? That's a pretty good sized insect. Yikes. You did fine for what you had to work with...I assume it was after dark given the headlights and pop-up flash. Focusing on the eye may have been beneficial. Neat catch, I've never seen one in person.

Studio lighting by Ford Explorer and pop-up flash. Dang, I gotta try that!

Fun shot Bruce!

Looks like my Mantis, Bruce, green stripe and all...only you had "special" lighting! Nice catch, by the way.
