First go at macro
One from a month or so ago that I've just got around to properly processing. Found this little guy (only about 2cm long) in the wet grass on a caravan site and got a few strange looks from passers-by as I appeared to be taking close ups of the grass!

40D + Sigma 150mm macro, ISO 400 and f/11 for 1/25 with +0.33ev, rested on beanbag on the ground. Virtually full frame.

All suggestions very welcome as this is my first go at a macro shot

Bit of a culture shock at first isn'tit ?!!
Cheers

ignore the strange looks, it goes with the territory of shooting macro. You get used to them after a while  This is a very nice shot, great focus on the eyes and well composed.

Very nice image Magnus. Good composition. Just a very minor nit, I'd try cloning out the brown of the cut grass stem at top left.

As a Sigma SD14 dslr user I can say you have made a great choice of lens. Although I only use a Sigma 50mm EX Macro, I am torn between the 150mm & 180mm Macros for my next lens after the SD15 dslr becomes available. Great focus on the eyes.

The focus is exactly where it needs to be. I took delivery of one of these lenses yesterday. Now I know what I have to aspire to.

That's a cracking shot. I have the 150mm also and think it's a great lens.

Great shot, Nothing wrong with it IMO.
Ignore the passants. You have something they don't have

Excellent first shot and I'm looking forward to seeing some more. you've done very well to get a bg as clean as this on a lawn and the in-focus stems frame him nicely.

An excellent portrait, just wish the rear leg wasn’t so evident.

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions, helpful as ever
Agree the Sigma looks like a very good lens and I'm looking forward to trying it some more but have to say that the stuff I'd picked up from this forum about macro work helped invaluably.
