SEO again!
1D2n, 600mm f4 is x1.4tc, 1/1600s, f8, iso 400. Cloned out oof stake.

Conditions were superb today with low sun and westerly wind. This guy only appeared for a couple of minutes in 3 hours, but it was worth the wait. I was hiding (from the wind!) next to a burn, looking down the valley to the loch, which forms the backdrop.

Hi Ian,

Stunning shot. Everything has come together on this one. Only about for a couple of minutes in 3 hours but what a great couple of minutes I bet!!, well done for waiting.

The light, composition and setting is fantastic.

One of your best

Great work

Regards

Rob

For me, it is the eye contact that makes this shot. Now I know how a vole feels!

Now that is an absolute stunner! The V of the loch matching the V of the wings - fantastic!
Very jealous - not had any luck with these this week.

Absolutely cracking capture, Ian. I spent a sunny but showery day yesterday up in Glen Etive hunting Red Deer at a spot I know they frequent in winter but no luck, so I know what it is to hang around for hours waiting on a shot!

Very very nice Ian, I also like the repeated Vs in the composition

Very different and almost pictorial, the eye contact and differential DOF is the defining difference in this image.
