night mushroom

hi all,

was lucky enough to find a mushroom that was up high with a clear BG, and offering an opprtunity to do something different.

i used a small maglite torch to 'paint' some light from behind and below the mossy tree stump upon which it was sat, and also to warm up the mushy a touch, although the colour is almost as is anyway, i just wanted to counter the cold of the flash a touch.

i used a ringflash @ 1/32 power and a 105 macro, f8 @ 15 seconds. tripod used, plus hand waving the torch. i took about 10 frames to get this one which was more or less what i was after.

realise not to everyones taste but comments welcome.

thanks for looking.

mark.

Good image and a great idea to try and work out.

Works for me. Well thought out. Quite a number of fungi photographers I know carry a half metre square of black velvet, just in case they come across a similar situation and want a completely black background.

Nice shot, and as I said well thought out.

Really simple but very effective and well executed
