Galápagos Hawk - (Buteo galapagoensis)
One bird I did want to see, as it is the only 'predator' on the islands. Feeding on snakes, rodents, lizards, insects and rotting carrion this magnificent bird tends to hunt in twos & threes often perching on the lava rock & trees. This guy was waiting for us to leave as he wanted to continue feeding on the carcass of a new born seal pup.

Interesting to see the tagging on both feet?

A rather stocky looking fellow. Love the eye contact and stern look.

Simple but effective!

Thanks Tim, appreciate it

Hope to see you posting more here, BTW nice to see your image without the paw print

A great pity about the tags but understandable for such a rarity.

Still an excellent shot, and if required then the tags can always be removed.

Majestic bird against a complementary background. Nice!

Spendid image of a splendid looking bird... the leg tags are not a problem and as Ray say's understandable, I presume someone is doing research on them....?

I really like this one Stephen. Colours, bg, eye contact. Just the job. the rings are a shame but a fact of life.
