Bodie Window
Several of the NPN'ers headed to Bodie after the Whoa Nellie deli gathering. The day was blustery and the buildings at Bodie were not going to move in the wind. I always enjoy Bodie. I find it a fascinating place and I love shooting the detail on the buildings.

Excellent detail, Harley. Colors, composition, textures, and again, the detail are all excellent.
This scene does such a nice job of really providing one with some real insight into the building materials used throughout those old buildings. Tin, screens, wood, rag cloth, nails, puddy, and glass. Amazing to think of living in something like this.

This is nice, Harley. It's nice seeing Bodie from a different perspective.

Harley, this is cool! I love detail shots like this one. The composition is really nice. There looks to be a slight magenta cast in the whites of the window glazing and in the greys of the weathered sill. On the whole, the color is excellent, and nicely saturated. One thing that really carries this for me is the diagonals of the screen and curtain in opposition to the rectangles. Good job!

Fantastic color and exposure. This image has character.

Fascinating is a good description. Lots of character here to go with the textures, details and vivid colors. Being able to more or less "see" into the building is what I find captures my attention the most - can't help but wonder what's in there and wonder about the happenings that took place there.

I really like it. Very nice play of texture, color and lines. Bodie is a wonderful place.

Harley,

Awesome! Character, history and mystery all come to mind. The color and detail is wonderful. I love the blues in the screen; the whole color scheme is wonderful. This is a fascinating and intimate capture from Bodie. It was indeed a fine afternoon and a great idea to get away from the windy canyons.

Isn't this the first image you captured at the first building we stopped at? Or was this later towards the end of the day?

Very well done, Harley...... but after a Whoa Nellie meal what would one expect?
I like how you captured that fact in one image that "Nothing" in Bodie is Level....
Only thing missing is a neat reflection in the window....LOL

So the only question left is.....
Can you name the building that this window is in?

in case this was just an appetizer for you....
There IS room in another 3day INside Bodie buildings workshop next weekend
Just ask Ed...he just did the last one
Weather forecast sounds good too... so the road should still be open.....

Always love all the textures there....Please share more.....
I've even photographed the wallpaper inside some of the buildings....

*cheers*

Lon,

This was the image I made at the first stop. I would be curious to see what the Asian tourist that looked at my ground glass, then filled my tripod holes when I moved got from the spot.

You still didn't name the building, Harley

Nelcha, I am lucky if I remember my own name. I stand a zero chance of naming the building.

beautiful. the texture and composition makes the image for me. excellent details. I always wanted to know if these kind of details could be captured through today's digital cameras ?

Absolutely. You can get great detail out of digital cameras. It may not be quite as good as drum scanned 4x5 film, but it will be close and will look great.

Harley, there's so much to shoot in Bodie but these intimate closeups are the one's I really like; the rusted siding / curtain / rolled up screen / window pane, all the textures, well done :toast:

Harley,
I really like this composition. The color and patterns really are striking. Good seeing. I'm sorry I didn't join you guys in Bodie. Best Regards.

Very nice Harley. I like the diagonal lines of the curtain and worn out screen. Watching you guys shoot the windows made it very tempting. Just like that cake you were eating. Next time I'll try it with some ice cream.
