that's a nice shot Des, I like the colours in particular. I can never quite decide whether I like compositions such as this where there is an out of focus object in the background (I took a similar shot of 2 Tufted Ducks the other day  ). When I look at this my eye goes first to the OOF mushroom and only then moves to the in focus mushroom. But in other ways I do like this kind of arrangement. A focus stacked version of this shot might have been interesting.

One of the hardest fungi species to get decent looking images of IMO. I like the autumnal colours here but I do find I am drawm more to the OOF specimen, and when I get round to the in focus specimen I feel that It needs more DoF, saying that I have tried many times to get good images of these and never succeeded.

Thanks guys, always appreciate your comments. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not the kind that always go for ultra large DOF ie. f16 upwards. I understand that that may not be everyone's cup of tea when it comes to macros. I'm glad it made your eyes go funny  Thanks again.

Now they are strange looking things!
My eye goes to the in focus one first, but can see what others mean. Perhaps it is due to the OOF one being larger? Would a different viewpoint to make the in focus one dominant in size help? Anyway, nice looking shot Des
