So I had a chance to tweak one of my fall color photos with some good IR simulation software (I know I know, nothing is as good as a true infrared cameras but I cant afford to convert my 1DsMIII heh).
Anyway, I'm pretty stoked on the results from one shot in particular from Oxbow Bend a couple of weeks ago during a very memorable morning shoot as the low clouds loomed over Mount Moran and the entire range before lifting mid-morning.
Thoughts on how I can improve it are very welcome. Thanks for looking!

Very dreamy feel to this! I like it a lot! I would like to see a little more detail in the trees though, not a lot, just a little. The reflection doesn't need it, just the actual "above ground" trees. The lighting is spectacular as is, very moody and dreamy.

I really like this. Very moody and dreamy; just the kind of stuff I like. I wouldn't mind seeing an ortonzied color version of this if the trees were actually being lit by the sun. Good work, Bryan.

Very nice. Also a very different image. When you said Oxbow, I was expecting more of the "classic" image. This is different and I do not mean just the IR. It really is all about the trees.
Great job.

That's really cool! I love the brooding nature of the scene.

Very nice, really great feel to it. As always, while a nice conversion to IR it wouldn't have worked if the original image hadn't been done well.
What software did you use?

If you don't mind me asking, what IR simulation software are you using?

I really like it. Indeed a great mood. No suggestions from me either. It works.

Thanks for the suggestions all. I'm pretty happy with it, but wished I would have gotten the shot just a bit wider and kept the leaves a bit more detailed but overall I'm stoked.
Kevin, I've been using a couple of different actions to imitate the effect, but mostly its just by changing my white balance in Raw (bumped it down to 3500k) and then converting it to black and white, and localizing the contrast everywhere I can to simulate the effect.
Btw Jesse, I swear I must have just missed you by days everywhere I went this fall. Next summer hopefully I can catch up with you and Darren!
