There seem to be cobwebs, and spiders, everywhere at this time of year which must make things very difficult for anything that flies, even insects as large as dragonflies. Here a Common Darter is trapped in a web and is being 'dealt with' by the spider.

Very cool shot Matt, the amount of detail is very good and the comp is good as well, top shot.

thats great, interesting and behavior captured which isn't often seen - especially with a large dragonfly!
Really like the position of the dragonfly, it really looks as though its being massacred all curled up like that.

Cracking image Matt full of interest - one very very minor nit a tad tight in the frame for me!

really like the composition, the spider doesn't stand out too much though

A shot I've been after all year and failed to acquire Matt - very nice
I might be tempted to stand this image on its left edge - if the lighting will allow.

Great suggestion from Andy - after turning my head on its side it does look better and the spider is more obvious. Cracking shot though especially to keep it all in frame
