I am posting this from a photographer's point of view, I have absolutely no financial interest in Adobe.
Just to say that I have now installed CS4 design suite on my 64 bit vista OS and it is blisteringly fast.
At long last it can use ALL my memory and Adobe Bridge has now come in to its own.Certainly, just from a commercial point of view, the extra speed has made the purchase well worth it.
I am still getting my head round some of the new gadgets, but up to now, they mostly seem well thought out and practically useful.
Best wishes
Phil
Glad you've got it Phil - Adobe have had a support case open for nearly a month now for a cross platform swap... they're still no closer to actually taking my order yet .
I downloaded mine last week-a bargain here i must admit and although not on a 64 bit pc it does look good

Hi Phil
Thanks for the heads up, what spec machine do you need for the 64 bit vista and CS4 as I'm interested in upgrading and can it now make more use of more memory?
Regards

Be aware folks that if you choose to upgrade by downloading you do not get the GOODIES files. The Extract filter is not included in the download virsion but is in the goodies file. I thought I was doing my bit to save the planet. PROFANITIES to Adobe.

Hi Phil,
That's great news! I am just in the process of having a 64-bit desktop built specifically for editing purposes. In my case both HD video footage and still images. I am intending to get Photoshop CS4 and Lightroom V2 for their 64-bit capabilities, plus other software that is now 64-bit ready!
Nice to know that it is faster than the 32-bit version and works well! Thanks for sharing! I will apparently have to wait for my software until the end of the month though (boxed version!). Mind you I won’t have my system set-up until the end of next week so I guess it’ll all work out well!
Hello Guys
Colin, I have 4x 2gb sticks of RAM and CS4 can use virtually all of it. In the past I hardly ever used "bridge" due to it being so slow, but now it is almost instantaneous. I have recently upgraded to an Intel Q9550 CPU @ 2.83GHz and an Asus (P34 I think) m'board.
Paul, that's interesting about the GOODIES files, do you know what they consist of?
Anyone else who might be interested, I bought a BIG Silverstone case a few years ago and a 1000watt PSU. The case has capacity for 6 hard drives and lots of room inside for fans etc..The unit is now comparatively easy to upgrade, and there are lots of companies out there who will advise on which bits are comapatible etc. (I use Scan at Bolton).
The point being that I upgrade my PC myself and it is a relatively easy task (bit like a mechano set), and it saves a great deal of money.
Best wishes
Phil

I was wondering if anyone has used the PS CS4 image stacking feature yet, and if so, what they thought of it (e.g. compared to Helicon Focus)?
