Went for a look at one of my local and favorite places today, (Dnook) to see what the state of play is.
Really made me think about last years shots, managed to find this shot which i'd forgotten about.. Also good to bump into Danny G and Edwin K again.

Great shot! The facial expressions are hilarious and the foaming splashing foam completes the image.

Very well seen and taken.. Some good 'Action' going on there and the snarling faces really is quite hilarious.. I witnessed this quite a lot when I was on a breeding island in scotland for a number of weeks.. At one point it took a male almost 20 minutes to park his bike..! LOL..!
Great natural history image in a good setting and super use of the environment through DOF..

There is normally quite a lot of this behavior happening on the beach, especially once the females have left their pups after the 2-3 week period and gone back to the sea and waiting males..
Its quite difficult to isolate a shot and pull it off, I normally keep an eye on the shoreline and pick out pairs which are courting, then try to get the shots before the marauding crowd of idiots come along and ruin it!
