I've got a couple vacation days to use and really eager for a quick driving photo get-away. Unfortunately, this is just not a great time for wildlife or birds. Big game hunting season, including moose, will probably keep me out of the woods in Vermont and NH. Coastal raptor migration is about over, but waterfowl migration not great yet and it's too early for unusual winter birds to show up.

Number one desire might be a small pond or lake that attracts southbound dabbling and diving ducks, grebes, scoters, etc. Roadside parking for using my car as a blind would be a plus. It may be a few weeks to early.

Any suggestions for any widllife or bird subjects for this weekend in the NE would be welcome.

Color is about peak south of Rt. 84 in CT. I would suggest closer to the shoreline in either RI or CT if you are looking for color. Have seen some black crowned night herons and egrets very recently on the shoreline.
