Fallow does at sunset
I've started going back to the fallow deer spot I found in the New Forest last year - perfect for a quick trip after work. This is from my first trip there a couple of weeks back - any feedback on the crop etc would be most appreciated.

Cheers
Matt

I think for me I would have preferred it if the group had of been on the left of the pic. The doe on the left would then of been looking into the image.

I agree about being to the left, also it's a shame the 4th deer isn't standing up like the rest but what can ya do. Must be great to have the NF on your doorstep!! :)

Just to put the cat among the pigeons you could always flip it!!### !! But I like it as it is (deer on right) maybe a little bit more ground showing but a great well thought out shot!!

"Just to put the cat among the pigeons you could always flip it!!###"

flipping it wouldnt really work, the deer closet to the middle would still be looking out of the frame instead of itno it.

Very nice image Matt. It's nice to have a 'different' image in your portfolio and the strong graphic shape and crop work well. The group being on the left would have lifted it another notch but you often have to take what you get. Sods law states if you had framed them to the left, that doe would have turned her head to look the other way! Lovely shot anyway.

this works very well, I like it a lot. A slight shame about the deer sitting down, but nothing you could do about that.

Thanks for the comments - I couldn't put the does to the left owing to bushes and fallen trees in the way that would have disrupted the simplicity of the flat ground. The fourth one is feeding just over a ridge which makes it a funny shape and I agree, better if she were not there. Hopefully there'll be a few more good sunsets in the next few weeks...

Interesting what people say about putting the deer to the left. As we naturally read/look from left to right, would one's eyes not be drawn into a big empty space if the comp were flipped? This way surely we first see the ground and the sunset and then are drawn across to the deer. Just a thought

thanks for the comments

Really like the colours & the perfect silhouettes, although I'd prefer to have less space on the right (but keep as panorama). :toast:
