Goldfinch Washing
Taken from a dome hide set up on a specially dug pool, located just behind the apartment where I stay, on the island of Lesvos.

Returning next year, should get this species on digital, already ordered the spade and pool lining.

Nikon F5, Lens: 600mm f/4, 1/125 sec @ f11, Sensia 100 @ +1/3 ASA, tripod mounted, electrical cable release used. Scanned on CoolScan 5000 processed in CS3.

Nice shot. Funny to see a wet one - they usually looks so well turned out. I could be tempted by this pool thing.

Great low POV shot, I like the colors. Shame about the big chunk of mud immediately beneath the subject. The head also appears to be slightly soft/out of focus, maybe fixable with some targeted USM.

A pleasing composition but I'm afraid it doesn't look sharp at all on this monitor Ray.

Ray I realise that this is a scan, but the sharpness just isn't there... the OOF bird I also find to be one of the distractions in this image.

Nice one Ray. Goldfinches make great subjects and the bathing bit is no exception,.
I have know doubt on slide this looks ok but somewhere along the line its finished up not sharp. Lesvos is a great place for birds and hope I get back there next year.

Major.
