I finally have a free Saturday close to home, and was wondering if anyone around SoNH wanted to meet up for an EARLY am shoot. I have a few possible locations that can be refined if there is any interest in the thread...
Possible options...
Audabon Property on Massebesic
Pawtuckaway Lake and Trails
Stonehouse Pond
Blue Job Mountain
Adams Point
Ponemah Bog
Anyone have a particular affinity towards any spot...and want to meet up for sunrise?

Jim,
Nick and I are heading to the photo show in NYC on Saturday. otherwise I would be there in a second! Hope you have a great day!

Kurt, I'm near Exeter, Southeastern NH...
I have to stay somewhat local (within an hour or so), but am free for the morning...

Hi Jim,
Carol and I would be very interested in meeting at Adams Point - with the hope that we could get a nice shot of a heron in the water at sunrise! I would have to look up locations for most of the other places as I'm not familiar with them.

Hi Pat...
Great to hear from you. I drove by the bay today...still not much color in the oaks on the bay itself...it peaked November 1st last year. I should be free next weekend to shoot there too. Since there doesn't seem like much other interest...how bout we try one of the others between the two of us.
Can you think of other locations with streams, lakes etc?
I am unable to meet this Saturday. Yet from the post above I am around next Saturday(Nov.1). It would be great to hook up with you.

Hi Jim,
The other locations would be fine, too. I don't think we'll see much in the tree color except pockets. Most of the trees in my yard (Milton) have either not turned yet or they've lost their leaves. I'll see if I can come up with some ideas and be in touch again after work.

There are still plenty of leaves on the maples down here, just not at the bay itself...
Perhaps if we can find a small stream where the leaves are covering the streambank between you and I (Farmington?) we'd be in luck...
And Scott/Pat...lets put it in stone now...Nov. 1st, sunrise, Adams Point!

Finding that streambank will be the challenge - especially when we're starting from different directions. To take advantage of sunrise, it would be nice if there was a lake or if the "stream" is open enough to be light. Any ideas on where to go or how to go about it? The frost in the boggy/swampy areas after sunrise has been wonderful (7:30ish). Everything has been backlit and very striking. It doesn't last long when the sun hits, but it might be something to think about.
I'm assuming you're still thinking about this Saturday (10/25) - both Carol and I can do that.
As for Adams Point, the next week (Nov 1), it's a strong maybe. Carol can't make that, but I should be able to go since it's early enough. I also thought Pawtuckaway sounded interesting - I've never been there. When the state parks close, is there still access?
Keep your eyes open for the red-bellied woodpeckers (the ones that don't have red bellies, but have red heads!) that are said to be all over NH this year! I'd like to get a picture of one on our outing!
That sounds good. I'll meet with you and Pat at Adams Point at sunrise Nov. 1st if you'd like. I own a green Honda Element. If you decide on something different that's fine with me also.

Hope to see you there!

Pat, Carol, My Friend Kevin (ghostflowers.com) and I met at Stonehouse Pond for a lackluster sunrise at a wonderful location. We hked up to the cliffs above the lake, and found some neat woods locations as well.
Here's a sample of the view...
Thanks for the company and fun shooting!

So glad you suggested this small pond. Your photo is wonderful! Though we took pics from the same area, there is a big difference in the results. Your composition and technique really made the scene pop.
Nice shot Jim!!! Post some more shots!! I hope you all have a great time Saturday too!!! I just got back from an impromtu trip to MD to see the folks and can't take Sat. off. Maybe another time!
