This was the day after the NPN gathering in Lee Vining. April and I went up and explored the Dunderberg Meadow area, it was beautiful.
I don't usually pose nature photos but I couldn't resist this time. However, I'm just not sure if this one works. I liked the idea of the icy branch and the green moss but it might be too much. Not much processing but had to tone down the saturation quite a bit, other than that just removed a bit of blue cast.

Neat colors and setup, Jason. It doesn't look contrived; I think the simplicity of the arrangement helps. It's a little contrasty for my tastes, but it's definitely a personal thing.
I like it! You might consider toning down the top of the branch so the bright area doesn't have as much eye magnetism? I really like the concept and well done.
Jason,
This is just a really sweet image. The bright color of the leaf contrasts so nicely with the green. The branch does stand out a bit, so maybe Harlley's idea might work. Cropped to the small nub looks great. Best Regards.

Doesn't looked posed so wouldn't of known if you hadn't said so. That red sure pops! Don't know about the specular highlight though. Love those drops.

I like it Jason! Love the red leaf against the green moss, although for me the branch is a bit out of place. I wouldn't mind seeing it cropped out, for example just the lower left quarter of the image...but at the same time I really like the idea of having some ice in the same frame.

Jason,
I like this as well. We're going to have to teach you about not choosing a "perfect" leaf though.... I offer several courses in "leaf management" if you're interested... :-)
Seriously... this works very well with the icy branch. However, I would consider a crop from the right to remove the URC. I think it still maintains a nice composition.
Man, a 150mm?? Did you crop a lot, or how far were the bellows extended? Regardless, nice setup and capture.
