Hi Chris,

Was this taken in the UK? As it looks like the Desert sub species  Maybe even Tengmalm's Owl? It just seems to have characteristics of those species, I've never seen a LO that looks like this one??

Good shot though

Regards

Rob

nice image, quite atmospheric, agree with Rob in saying the one in your photo does look slightly , though i couldn't say why

Hi Rob.. the shot was taken in Northern Cyprus, so interested in what you say about it being a sub-species. I think Tengmalm's has a more pronoused dip in the centre of its head, but interested in the debate.

Ian... the camera performance at this ISO impressed me.

Thank you both again.

Hi Chris,

As it was taken in Cyprus I guess this is their variant, ie plumage etc. It did'nt look like a UK LO !!

Interesting shot Chris, although it looks to have a bit of a magenta cast to my eye. iso performance is very impressive.

I was gonna say I'd never seen a little owl that looks like that! Nice shot. Nice eye contact, really smooth given the ISO  Nice compositon too.

Thank you all for your comments. Interestingly there was a Scops in the same area of scrub, but it came too late each evening to capture.

Thanks again, regards Chris
