early morning elk RMNP

I made it into Morraine park just in time to see this guy herding his cows around on the hill top, was quite a morning.

Excellent silhouette! I like the downhill angle you captured.
I would crop out the out of focus branches on the left, though. They just distract from the sharpness of the rest of the image.

Agree, great silhouette with an imposing angle to it.

Man, if you only knew how long I've wanted a shot like this! I've got one from a few years back, but not this nice. I'd also vote to crop or clone out the oof pine boughs.

Another quick thought: Could you darken this overall to bring out some of the blue sky? You could darken this a bunch and still have the powerful impact of the silhouette.

Nice capture Gary. From the looks of it, that buck was pretty close to you, at least, close enough to shoot that shot with a mid-range lens. How far were you?

Very cool shot Gary! I agree with above coments re the oof branches and Todd's coments about darkening overall for the sky, I like the down angle of the bull and the rocky texture of the ground.

Thanks everyone, I thought about removing the trees, just wasn't sure but I think I will now, I played with the sky from red to orange and blue and I think maybe I will give it more blue. not sure how far away I was maybe 75 yards not sure, I was shooting a 500 f4 lens

Great capture!!! I'd color the sky too. You could get very artistic with this image.
