I nearly called this upload "dustbunny" as the original image had lots of tiny black dots on it. However, these particular dust bunnies had six legs, wings and a nasty bite. In the end I cloned them out, but may have missed one or two somewhere.

This stilt was photographed in a lake near the Zambezi river early one morning in August 2008. We spent about half an hour watching two of them feeding, to the amusement of our guide as there was a pride of lions nearby that we ignored until they were nearly all asleep.

Techy stuff:
Nikon D200 with 50-500mm Sigma at 500mm
1/320th at f11, rated at 400asa
Slight crop, mostly at the bottom to get rid of out of focus mud

Good stuff

I like the overall comp, and the way the razor sharp tail points straight into the corner of the frame.

Looks good to me.. Well worked David. Hard to keep control of the colours on a B&W bird but you managed it here. Nice composition.

Brett.

Thanks for your comments, folks. A particular thank you to Brett for his advice on cleaning up the image before posting. There are times when it is very useful to have a UKNP photographer working at the desk behind you!
