The other evening there was brilliant looking sunset on offer.
In the distance quite a large gathering of Stalings where swirling about and by the time I arrived the red sky at night bit was getting smaller and smaller by the minute. Tried to get the flock with RS in the BG and did manage a few. Quite liked the patterns prooduce with just the yellow sky and of course it was looking like a swarm of bees.
Good to see that do the same thing in their native area I can remember times when I was a child and we lived in the northern Mallee seeing this type scene in the evening quite frequently, the Mallee is one of our major wheat growing regions here in Victoria Australia.

Classic behavioural shot of starlings coming home to roost. Like house sparrows, very few round here now, I counted 7 coming home to roost last week. As you say they produce great patterns in the sky. Magical.

One of the uk's great natural spectacles IMO. I have spent many a happy evening watching this display after a day's fishing on the fens and this shot brings it all back. Nice shot major. Eric

that's a lovely shot Major, the colour of the sky really sets off the display well.

Hello Major.
Love the image and the composition you have captured. I have had a go at this but the sky and light was all wrong and to be honest it just looked a mess.
I would have been well pleased if they had turned out as nice as this.

Superb formation as they are clustered at the right and then disperse to the left.. Nicely captured moment Major.. Thanks for sharing.

A sight that has always fascinated me, and how well you have captured it! A lovely colour sky to boot, and a pleasure to view.
