American White Pelican
From eastern Oregon. I was using a rented 300 f2.8 with a 2x converter, hand held (thank goodness for IS lenses).

Very nice, Ryan, especially for handheld. I really like the colors you've captured and the reflections of the water on the bird are interesting.

BTW, are you open to telling me what the rental fees were? (I assume you rented from Pro Photo?)...

Geoff, the 300mm f2.8 lens is $50.00 a day or $200.00 for a week. They only bill for weekdays, so having it over a weekend gives you some extra time.

Great light! Nice capture. I love how vivid the color is on the beak and the eye.

Thanks for the info, Ryan. Not too bad and I may consider doing this sometime soon.

Geoff, I got the 300 f/2.8 and the 2x TC ($11/day), which was cheaper than renting a 600 f/4 by about $20 a day, and I really felt the images taken with the 300 f/2.8 with the TC were very sharp. You can reserve them up to one month in advance of when you need them.

Great shot Ryan! No nits here, other than it might need just a tiny CCW rotation?
