Cuckoo
Time for something a little different! I have being getting to know how to use my slr effectively whilst beneath the waves this year. This is a male cuckoo wrasse from Cornwall at the start of September. It's processed first in RAW Shooter and then CS2. About 80% of the full frame and 3 rounds of 20% USM.

Shame about the bit of weed in the way but i couldn't help that. He didn't hand around too long and most other shots were wrongly exposed. C&C welcome

Cheers
Matt

Canon 5D, Ikelite housing, 2 inon Z220 manual strobes (although I think the slave failed for this shot)

ISO 200, f16, 1/60s, 50m macro lens.

wow, certainly something different. That's an impressive looking fish and looks more like something I'd expect to see in tropical waters. The flash has really brought out the blue colour. A well composed shot and the exposure looks good to me, nice work.

I think that sometimes you have to just accept that something gets in the way of the subject, and I certainly don't find that bit of weed too much of a distraction. I am just glad you were not tempted to clone it out.

Lovely shot! The weed doesn't offend me at all. Colour balance looks spot on. Looks like your underwater photography is coming along very nicely!

Hi Matt,

Love the colours on this. I didn't see the weed until I read your posting and then had to look for it, I certainly do not think it's a distraction.

Great shot, thanks for sharing

The attention is drawn straight to the fish and its eye and the seaweed is no problem.
Its a great looking one at that and just goes to show what we have around us. I also like the little green objects in the BG which look like litte eyes as well. :toast:
