Hi Barry,
This was one mammal I wanted to see when I was in Florida, alas I never as it is/was in decline, mainly due to prop injuries from weekend boaters
I did see them in Seaworld chomping on Cabbages and Lettuces, not exactly how I wanted to see them though.
I hope the Manatee gets a break before long and recovers as for me it would be tragic if it were to become extinct.
Thanks for sharing
Regards
Rob

I'm not sure it is in decline anymore?? I don't know what the numbers are but there seem to be lots of them here and there are many good things happening to help protect them and there environment.
They are fantastic animals. The one problem you do have is getting far enough away from them to take a photograph! As soon as you get in the water they come straight over and want to interact with you, which at first is a bit intimidating as they are massive growing up to 3500 lbs.
Cheers

Hi Barry,
Good, it was 5 years ago when I was in Florida so I am pleased things are turning around.
Although looking on: http://www.savethemanatee.org/ would suggest there is still some educating to do
