A few NENP photographers are looking to meet up at Adams Point in Durham, NH Saturday morning.
The foliage on the Great Bay peaked around that time last year, and the marshes, rocks, fields, water and wildlife should give something for everyone.
Anyone else in???

Jim,
I'm about 90% sure I will be there on Saturday. FYI The sun rise for Adams point on Novemeber 1st is 6:19 AM the tide in the Bay will be high at 4:06 AM and low at 10:17 AM.
Current weather forecast is sun and about 36 degrees.
Are you going to publish direction to Adams point?

I will certainly post directions a bit later in the week. It is in Durham, NH though, off of Durham Point Road for those antsy with the google!
A quick addendum to Jim's note though...Saturday is the laziest sunrise time of the year...daylight savings doesn't switch until sunday...which makes sunrise 7:19 for you late risers!!!

Since the sunrise will be 7:19, I should be able to make it. As long as the weather looks good. Please post directions when you get a chance!

Opps. . . Thanks for the correction on Sunrise Jim!! I forgot about the time change and the sunrise table I look at is alway given in Greenwich Mean Time or UTC and I made the wrong conversion as I was looking at Sunday as well and let that influence me! I am now 100% certain for this Saturday. . . see you then.

Alright...directions and a 'how to' when you are there...
85 Adams Point Road, Durham, NH...
Adams Point is a Wildlife Management area on Durham Point Road, a peninsula that sticks out into the Great bay. The Jackson Estuarine Lab is on the Property, and that is the sign that you see from the road. There is an open gate at the entrance to the preserve on Durham Point Road (Bay Road), but the sign and the gate are the only clue that you are entering the point.
Once you are on the property, drive all the way to the end of the road. In doing so, you will pass a boat launch with parking, and see a sign for overflow parking. Head up there. We can meet in the parking lot of the Lab...as they won't be there at sunrise.
From there, the sunrise will be right in front of us. A path leads into the fields and down to the water, about 200 yards away. The path continues on a 1.5 mile scenic through fields and woods, by ponds and from some nice elevated vantages. I'll go over those when we are there.
Directions: Basically Durham Point Road (Durham) and Bay Road (Newmarket) are the same road that make a loop from 108. Coming from the north, you can get on 108 from route 4 and go south. From the south, you can get on 108 from 101 and go north.
I've copied these directions from another site.
From Durham
Take Rt. 108 south from Durham and, about 100 yards uphill from the Oyster River, turn left onto Durham Point Road.
Follow Durham Point Road several miles.
The gate and the access road to Adams Point eventually appear on the left just down the hill from the intersection with Dame Road.
If you wind up crossing the small bridge over Crommet Creek, you've gone too far.
Follow the access road to its end where there will be two parking areas.
From Newmarket
Take 108 north through the center of Newmarket and take the first right, Bay Road, after crossing the Lamprey River bridge.
Follow Bay Road into Durham, and, just after crossing the (unmarked) Crommet Creek bridge, turn right into the access road.
Follow the access road to its end where there will be two parking areas.
Just a note as you zoom out the map, Longmarsh Road looks like the fastest way, but it doesn't go through, as it becomes gated!
I've included an aerial view...
I'll be there at 6:30 or 6:45 at the latest and will head into the fields most likely, especially if there is a frost?!?!
See you then!

I'm planning to be there - it's so nice to go on these photo shoots without rain!!!

Well, two meetups in a row where the light didn't quite happen.
Great clouds were in the sky, but no sun broke the horizon at sunrise. Still, seven of us enjoyed the peak foliage on the oaks, calm water, a few asters, plenty of milkweed and a few birds.
It was great to meet everyone, and I look forward to seeing some shots!
