For ever alert as usual.
D3 + 600mm AFS II + 1.4 conv.
Bean Bag from the car.
1/250 @ f6.3
ISO: 640.
Ex Comp: -0.7EV.
In view of the early nights closing in didn't venture far this afternoon.
Decided to look for any Redwing/Fieldfare around bushes with berries + a nice pool.
Found one fairly quick and could hear Redwings calling frequently.
Sure enough it paid off. Got a Redwing and as an added bonus up popped Mr Jay as well. You need a bit of luck sometimes.

Hi Major,

Knowing how jumpy and skittish these birds are you have done really well.

Really very very nice in a lovely setting.

No Fieldfares or Redwings in any numbers in Suffolk yet.

Good work

Regards

Rob

Nice pool shot. Must be nice to have one in the open !
Like the leaves !
Bit more space on the right and a tad at the top could be good

Very nice indeed. I am jealous of this as I still haven't managed to get a decent shot of one!

Hi Major
One of the best Jay images I've seen, a very difficult bird to capture.

Excellent :toast:

When your peering through netting and suddenly a Jay pops up I dont know about you but I get excited. Usually as soon as you move the lens even with netting up there gone. This time the rules were broken. Managed to get it drinking as well. Like I say sometimes a bit of luck comes into play.
One of these days I am going to get so excited i will fall off my perch.

You must have a steady hand Major, 1/250s at 800mm! Wow, nice sharp image.

850mm to be precise Bill. I am sure I loose some through lack of sharpness due to not controlling my excitement.

Nice low angle, nice pose. I'm envious - I only see these very occasionally flying away when the car approaches.
