Just a quick update for those who might be interested. Along the lakeshore near the Muskegon and Spring Lake area, colors seem to be around 60% with some trees already having lost their leaves. Close to the MI/IN border, from what I observed yesterday on my way back from Kentucky, it's getting close to 50%. There were some really nice colors south of Kalamazoo, but due to the rain and lateness of the day (nearly dark with those heavy rain clouds around 5:00p.m.), I was unable to stop.
If anyone lives close enough to the MI/IN border or has the time...the next few days would be ideal, especially if it's raining, by the way. The saturation was fantastic, as were the brightly colored leaves against the dark, wet tree trunks!
P.S. Looks like we might lose a lot of leaves tonight and tomorrow. The weather service has issued a high wind advisory for tonight and tomorrow.
