1D2n, 600mm f4 is x 2.0tc, 1/2000, f8, iso 400. Slight crop.

Had some lovely morning light today at the local reserve. Thankfully I was sheltering in a hide from the gale. I liked the colours on this one.

A beauty! I'm not usually a fan of "wings-down" flight shots but this one works a treat - and to have it calling as well gives it something extra.
Well done. :toast:

Ian

Very nicely taken, as comments above re the bird all working a treat. Also, nice and sharp with a 2x on a 600mm not an easy feat.

Well done.

Regards Chris

PS. Just notice how cool the background is!

Many thanks for the comments.

"wide open with a 2x ?"

Indeed yes! Hadn't noticed. I had been using the 1.4 and manual exposure. I should have stopped down and reduced SS when I changed but was obviously caught up in the excitement! Just shows though - these converters aren't too bad really.

Very impressive Ian, 1200mm field of view must be like looking though a straw.

Nice one :toast:

That's a hell of a capture with that setup. It helps that the bird is flying parallel to you of course but still a difficult feat to pull off.

1200mm is going some Ian so you have done well with this image. It must have been a sunny gale as at least you managed to hit a 1/2000. Good flight shot.
