John, I love the expressions and the sharpness. Flash used presumably. What is a drainpipe set up? Also they are eating the fungi?

Hi Bill
Yes one flash in this case with a weak reflector, to try and get the feeling of night ! Its ok using multiple flashes but they can look too " set up" sometimes.
No, they are temptedwith finely ground peanut put in holes
in the log they are sitting on.
I have to say it took most of a years work trying to get the three together. It is or was,a breeding colony.
The "drainpipe " is a home made copier I made to go on the 150 macro lens. It has a slide holder on the end with a diffusing screen. The plastic drainpipe was just the right diameter to slide over the lenshood on the Sigma lens. The length is adjusted so as just to get the whole of a 35 mm slide in the frame.
Hope that is understandable.
Cheers
and thanks for your interest.

Wow! that's determination a years work to bring off the capture you wanted. Your sustained effort paid off too.
Puts my shoot and hope shots into perspective.

Tiny bit cyan John, but is that Ektachrome dynamic range a joy to behold or what:wavey:

Hi John

Lovely to see these! I get Yellow-necked Mice in the visitor centre roof and workshop at the park, where I work. I live-trap them and then release into large Dormouse-type boxes that we have put up in some of the quiet wooded areas. They are supposed to "home" up to 2 km, I just release beyond a stream and hope it will take them a while to build a boat!
They are amazing climbers, both inside and out. Even more attractive than Fieldmice.
I've taken a few shots of mine, but nothing to compare with your shot, good work.

Regards Colin
