Hi all,

I sure appreciate all your comments and suggestions on the previous post of this image. I reworked this to cool it down, and cropped it to a 3:4 ratio.

Your comments on this redux will be appreciated!

Much better Preston. The overall color balance looks great and yet you've retained the nice yellow of the leaves. I liked the 4x5 format of this scene, but this crop works very well getting rid of some of the extra stuff on the left and top.

Great job with the rework.

Ahhhhh, much better Preston, the yellow leaves are striking and the overall warm tone is gone, seems to be a touch of green in the overall image, well done :toast:

I like the original post better. Especially the crop. This new version doesn't do nearly as much for me.

I also like the previous one for some reason.

Preston,

I think the color balance needs to be somewhere in between the two. I am unsure about which crop is better, I like them both.

Not seeing the original at times to get ideas makes things a bit tougher no doubt. I lean toward a middle of the two in overall processing, Preston. I like the cropped look, but I do lean toward a bit warmer look and feel then the second version here. I'm sure this second version is more toward how things looked originally in the field, but I think a very slightly warmer look would do it. Regardless, both are very fine takes on the scene, it is only in all our various tastes that we can find the faults, not the images at all that's for sure.

I really appreciate your comments! After I posted this, I still did not feel entirely happy with it. Your comments illuminated my unconcious misgivings. I re-scanned this this morning, and will do my best to hit the "happy medium".

Cheers,
